Churchill Maduro Review

Golf Classics – Churchill Maduro Review

7 X 48 – Full Bodied
Wrapper: 8-year aged Dominican Maduro
Binder: Ecuador
Filler: Dominican Republic

First off – I didn’t want to smoke this cigar.

I felt like I would be burning a work of art.

This is one of the most beautiful cigars I have ever held. The 8-year old Dominican wrapper was oily, dark, and the smell was superb. I literally walked around smelling the cigar for nearly a half an hour before I sat down to light it. And despite my misgivings of torching a work of art, I was glad that I did.

The Churchill Maduro is an uncommonly clean smoke. The sweet aroma of the cigar, eventually giving way to more complex flavors, enhances sweet overtones. This cigar demonstrates what has become, for me, a signature Payne Mason tasting note, a clean smooth finish.

This is a cigar for someone who likes cigars. It is bold and flavorful. This is not a cigar for someone who is new to cigar smoking, but it is an especially satisfying smoke for a seasoned cigar smoker.

You fully appreciate the years it took to create this wrapper. Some other cigar manufacturers “age” Maduro wrappers with dye. Nothing beats the taste and aroma of a naturally aged Maduro wrapper.

Compliment the Churchill Maduro with a Lowland single malt, Auchentoshan or Oban. The citrus note in Oban balances well against this hearty smoke.
